David Harlley is a business leader, engineer, start-up coach and writer. He began his career as a design engineer and project manager in the construction industry, overseeing medium and large scale mechanical-electrical projects, across multiple sectors including healthcare, transit, commercial, and residential. Prior to co-founding Third Way Capital, he held executive positions in engineering firm WSP, specializing in corporate strategy and restructuring, and leading regional operations.
David's biggest passion is guiding entrepreneurs in the creation of market leading products and services that provide real value to society and drive impact. In 2016, David launched Think Startup, a free online mentorship program for African Entrepreneurs. While running Think Startup, the challenges of affordable finance for SMEs in Africa became apparent, and a few years later Third Way Capital was born.
Originating from Ghana (West Africa), David is committed to the development of stable and sustainable economies in Sub-Saharan Africa and believes that empowering entrepreneurs with know-how and capital are integral pillars of any development plan.
David contributes regularly to discussions on business for good, and transformative capital through his blog "Good Business" where he writes and curates content that thoughtfully but firmly challenges the status quo of economics, business and finance.
